ATP Synthetase produces ATP, the major energy currency in the body. This occurs when Hydrogen protons flow down the ATP synthetase into the mitochondrial matrix. The work done to produce the Hydrogens that flow down is performed by the Electron Transport Chain. Wikipedia
DNP is a drug that comes along side ATP synthetase and provides an alternate way for Hydrogens to enter the matrix. When this occurs, Hydrogens enter the matrix via DNP. The electron transport chain continues to do work, but no ATP is produced. Wikipedia
Gospel
God is good and we are not 2 Tim 2:13. There is a clear separation between us and God. Jesus says that He is the Way and that nobody comes to the Father except through Him John 14:6. Jesus bridged the gap by becoming our sin and giving us His righteousness 2 Cor 5:21. We work with the power of Jesus working in us Gal 2:20-21.
The Gospel in ATP synthetase
Like Jesus, ATP synthetase tells the Hydorgen protons (us) that it is the way to get to the matrix and produce energy. DNP, like religion, then comes along and tells the Hydrogen protons that you don’t have to go through ATP synthetase and that there is another way to the matrix (God). Sadly, the electron transport chain keeps working diligently in vain with no ATP (energy) production.
In our sinfulness, we choose other ways to get to God outside of Jesus. We choose religion and/or rebellion (here we say that we are, “god”). In both circumstances, we work diligently in vain pursuing love and identity. And it gets worse.
There is another protein in the body called thermogenin Wikipedia. We are born with Thermogenin and it is called, “brown adipose tissue”. Thermogenin, like DNP, provides an alternate way for Hydrogen protons to get to the matrix. However, when Hydrogen protons travel down thermogenin, no ATP is produced -just heat. With thermogenin, you may be comfortable and warm, but you will never be active.
We are born sinful with alternate desires for love and identity outside of Jesus Psalm 58:3-4, 51:5.
